They feel the calling. They want to serve. They are fired up about making a difference in people’s lives.
But the moment it comes time to price their programs, share their message, or step into their authority as a leader, fear takes over. And everything stalls.
That pattern is more common than most coaches will admit. And it is exactly what Norbert Orlewicz and I dug into on the Between Two Coaches podcast—a conversation about what it actually takes to build a mission-driven business, lead with purpose, and follow God’s calling into territory that does not come with a guarantee.
WHEN WHITE-KNUCKLING STOPS WORKING
Most coaches who struggle with momentum are not struggling because they lack talent, skill, or passion. They are struggling because they are operating out of fear rather than faith.
Fear of judgment. Fear of failure. Fear of not being enough. Fear of success and what it might require of them. Those four fears run silently in the background of a coach’s business—and they shape every decision, every price point, every piece of content, and every conversation that never quite gets started.
I shared something with Norbert that I have come to believe deeply: when you stop white-knuckling life and release the need to control every outcome, that is when God is able to work. That is when the real growth starts. Not before the surrender — after it.
That is not a passive posture. It is the most courageous option available to a man or woman in business. It is faith with skin on it.
WHAT WE COVERED
This conversation covered ground that every coach, creator, and purpose-driven leader needs to hear.
We talked about operating from fear versus faith — and how to identify which one is actually driving your decisions, since fear is subtle. It disguises itself as strategy, perfectionism, and preparation. It will keep you busy indefinitely while your calling sits waiting.
We talked about masculine identity and spiritual leadership—because a coach who has not done the interior work of knowing who he is will build his brand on an unstable foundation. Identity clarity is not just a personal development issue. It is a business issue.
We talked about shifting from head to heart—why the most effective coaches and communicators lead from genuine conviction rather than polished positioning —and why that shift changes everything about how your message lands.
We discussed the four fears that silently sabotage success — and how to name them, face them, and refuse to let them set the ceiling on what you are called to build.
We talked about building from calling rather than comparison—the trap of watching what everyone else is doing and trying to replicate it, rather than going deep into your story and trusting that what God placed in you is exactly what your people need.
And we talked about your story as your most powerful marketing tool — because no one else has lived your life. Your mess, your comeback, your turning points — they are not liabilities to manage. They are the foundation of the trust you are trying to build.
THE POWER OF ASKING FOR HELP
We also explored the keynote that has become one of the most defining messages of my work—The Power of Asking for Help.
This principle applies as directly to coaches as it does to the men I mentor. Too many coaches are trying to do it all by themselves. They are afraid that seeking a mentor, coach, or community will make them look like they do not have it together.
That fear costs them years.
The coaches who build sustainable, meaningful businesses are the ones who seek help early, stay in community consistently, and understand that asking for support is not a sign of weakness. It is a strategic and spiritual act of strength.
Your next breakthrough is almost certainly on the other side of an ask you have been avoiding.
THIS ONE IS FOR YOU
If you have ever struggled with identity confusion, imposter syndrome, or the uncertainty of building something that actually matters, this conversation will meet you where you are and challenge you to take the next step.
